Walmart Foundation commits cash to wildfire support

The Walmart Foundation has committed $250,000 in cash grants to support California wildfire relief efforts.

The funding will go to the nonprofits helping residents and first responders affected by the 16 blazes currently burning across the state.

” The fires in California are devastating and we’re working to quickly support our associates and customers who are being impacted, ” said Julie Gehrki , vice-president of philanthropy at Walmart. ” Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are committed to providing critical resources, whether financially or through product donations to support he nonprofit organizations and first responders provide relief at the front lines. ”

Walmart operates more than 300 stores in California. It employs more than 90-thousand associates statewide.

The company has a long history of providing aid during disasters. Over the past two-years, it has donated nearly $50-million in cash, water, food, and other products to victims of hurricanes, fires, and tornadoes.
