Blast from the past: a look into past KSWT sets

KSWT 13 On Your Side has a brand-new set, and we couldn’t be any more ecstatic. But it wouldn’t be a premiere if we didn’t take a trip down memory lane.

KSWT wasn’t always KSWT, in the 1970s it started off as KYEL-TV.

Inside of their studios, the set standing was an ode to the architecture, designs, and style of the 1970’s.

But near the end of the century even more changes came to KYEL. That’s when KSWT came in and brought a new channel to the desert southwest.

A modern look for the turn of the century with screens in the back gave it the feel of a busy, active newsroom and television channel.

But in the early 2000’s, a facelift in the image of the stations logo and anchor set modernized it bringing it into the modern time.

As broadcast television kept evolving, digital television became the next frontier. Soon after digital news sets became the new thing across news stations in every region of the country. It was an exciting new technology but eventually, it would lose the excitement of sitting in an actual news set.

The old KSWT set was simply a desk in front of a green screen, but the desert southwest can now enjoy a brand-new set, bringing us into the next era of television news.

The entire KSWT team is excited to find new and innovative ways of delivering the news to you the viewer while maximizing the brand-new space that we have.
