RING partners with YPD to help fight crime

Ring

The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has partnered up with RING to be able to access user videos when they are uploaded onto the RING neighbor’s act.

This partnership comes in an attempt to minimize burglaries.

Users who have a RING doorbell or any home security video device set up can easily upload their videos onto the RING Neighbors app. With this, YPD will have access to view these videos to help them solve crimes.

Officers are also given access to request videos from users easily within a certain neighborhood if they are investigating a crime.

The videos can only be taken from users with their permission and can be used in court as well if the criminal is caught.

YPD has already had officers trained in using the app. The app is free for anyone to use, even the police department which benefits them since they don’t have the budget for something like this.

Officers hope that this partnership will stop or at least slow down crime going on in Yuma.
