Local carpenter tasked with once in a lifetime job

Big things are in the works at KYMA .

Next week, News 11 is expecting to debut a brand-new studio set.

Here’s a glimpse inside the wood-shop where some of the magic is happening.

From cutting the wood to the finishing coat paint, and every step in between, just like our news, we’re keeping the construction of the new anchor desk local.

KYMA’s classic news desk is getting a new look and it’s all happening in a wood-shop in the Yuma community.

Cesar Rodriguez owns CR Cabinets which specializes in residential kitchen cabinets.

Rodriguez said, ” This is the first [news desk] I made and it’s going here to local channels. They’ll be seeing something that came out of this shop. ”

For the first time, thousands of people across the desert southwest will be laying their eyes on his work.

Contracting company, Master Finishes, teamed up with Rodriguez to create the custom alder wood desk.

The woodworking expert knocked it out in a few days saying, “It’s wood it’s easy.”

However, the masterpiece will be carved into local news history.
