Bust at Andrade Port of Entry nets 100+ pounds of methamphetamine

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made a big methamphetamine bust at the Andrade Port of Entry this weekend. Officers say they discovered more than a hundred-pounds of the drug hidden in an SUV.

Officers say it happened around seven Sunday night.

A CBP inspector noticed discrepancies in a driver’s travel itinerary and ordered an intensive search of the man’s Chevy Tahoe. Officers discovered a total of 80-packages of meth hidden in the SUV’s doors and gas tank. The drugs weighed 112-pounds, and had a street value of more than $180-thousand.

Officers arrested a 45-year-old Phoenix man and turned him over to Homeland Security for processing. He’s currently in the Imperial County Jail awaiting formal charging.
