Humane Society of Yuma: starved dog too sick to save

A tragic ending to the Humane Society of Yuma’s fight to save a young dog’s life.

The dog dubbed ” Zero ” was found in the County on Friday. The Shepard mix was shockingly emaciated, and covered in ticks.

Veterinarians performed surgery to determine if an underlying medical issue was to blame for Zero’s malnutrition. At that time they discovered the young dog had untreatable internal injuries in his abdomen. Sadly, Zero had to be put down.

The Humane Society encourages the community to continue to reach out to animals in need like Zero. It urges anyone who sees a sick or injured dog or cat to either bring it to the shelter, or call Animal Control.

HSOY also thanks the community for contributions towards Zero’s care. All donations will be used to pay for his treatment, and to care for any other animals that enter the shelter in need.
