Rick Perry to resign
U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry announced his resignation Thursday afternoon.
The former Texas governor has recently drawn scrutiny for his role in the Ukraine controversy. Perry faces questions about his involvement in efforts to pressure President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate a company that worked with Hunter Biden, son of presidential candidate Joe Biden. Perry has admitted that he was in contact with President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudolph Giuliani about Ukraine-related matters.
It’s not known when Perry will leave his post. Earlier this month the New York Times reported he planned to depart by year’s end.
