Yuma generated more than $108 million in retail sales

Another Yuma business closes its doors, but other businesses in the city see continued success.

251 Downtown Twisted Kitchen made the announcement that it’s no longer open Monday night, but it is unknown why.

Overall, numbers show last year retail sales came in at more than $108 million.

Timeless Elegance Antique store in Downtown Yuma says it usually sees between 10 and 20 customers per day during the summer. Traffic really increases during the winter.

The store’s owner gives winter visitors credit for keeping the doors open for the past 18-years.

Visit Yuma it’s not just winter visitors who bring economic benefits to the city. It says tourism supports the economy year-round.

Jim Bays comes to shop from San Diego. He’s been visiting the store for years. Tuesday he spent nearly $50.

” Main street we love because of the antique shops because of the used shops and so on. We just really enjoy it, ” said Bays.

Bay’s Yuma visit wouldn’t be complete without a bite to eat. Experts say that hunger for everything the city has to offer is what really feeds the local economy.
