ASU arena gets new name
The Arizona state basketball arena is getting a new name. Starting this season, the Sun Devils will play at Desert Financial Arena.
This is part of an agreement between Arizona State and Desert Financial Credit Union.
AZcentral reports the terms of the five-year agreement include $1.5 million per year from the credit union to ASU.
The credit union will also provide a marketing partnership and internships for ASU students.
Arizona State’s 14,000 seat basketball arena was formerly known as the Wells Fargo Arena since 1997. It’s also home to women’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics.
The new arena signs will go up in time for basketball season, beginning Nov. 5.
