Jane Fonda arrested at DC demonstration
Actress Jane Fonda was arrested in Washington, D.C. Friday during a protest on climate change.
The 81-year-old actress was among 16 people picked up for unlawfully demonstrating on the East Front of the U.S. Capitol. Police arrested them after they ignored orders to leave the steps.
Fonda told a reporter she intended to get arrested.
She says she’s actually relocated to Washington for the specific purpose of participating in weekly environmental protests.
Fonda has a long history of activism dating back to the Vietnam war.
