Four arrested after deputies say they attacked and shot a man

Four suspects are behind bars after allegedly attacking a man and shooting him on July 15.

Deputies said the incident happened near Crane Street and 37th Avenue after the victim walked into a home and was first attacked by two suspects and then shot at multiple times.

While the shots were being fired, things didn’t go as planned.

One of the suspects was also shot by another suspect, according to deputies.

YCSO said the victim then asked for help but the suspects would not take him to get help.

The victim was later able to escape the home and drive himself to hospital, but not before the suspects could fire off more shots as he drove away, according to YCSO .

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Juan Ornelas-Leon , Angel Roberto Gandara , Beatriz Vargas and another suspect who made his initial appearance in Yuma Justice Court Wednesday.

Gandara was arrested on August 3 and Beatriz Vargas was arrested on September 21, according to YCSO . They are both being held on a $500,000 bond.

Beatriz Vargas is also facing human smuggling charges in a separate case.

Ornelas-Leon and the other suspect were arrested on warrants by U.S. Marshalls within the last week.

The victim was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital. He survived the injuries he sustained during the altercation.

The suspect who was shot was also airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office ( YCSO ) investigated the incident and asked the Marshall’s for their help in serving the warrants.

” Once again this shows the collaboration of intel sharing between our Local, State and Federal partners in Yuma County to apprehend wanted suspects, ” said the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

All four are in the Yuma County Jail and are facing six charges including attempted first-degree murder and participating in a criminal street gang.
