Angry customer shot dead after crashing truck into Chick-fil-A

LINCOLN, Neb. is ( KETV 7) — New court documents reveal more about the suspect who went on a rampage at at Lincoln Chick-fil-a .

According to an affidavit, police said the day Joseph Cimino went on the rampage, he told police he was ” getting ready for the game. ”

The property manager of Cimino’s apartment complex called police Monday because he was reportedly throwing rocks at a retaining wall and kicked a hole in his apartment.

The manager told police that Cimino said he was waiting to be picked up for his ” final mission, ” but he had not gotten his orders yet. He also said he wish someone would just kill him, then put a finger to his head and simulated firing a gun.

Court documents also said that just an hour before he went to the Chick-fil-A , the apartment manager saw Cimino standing in the lanes of traffic near his apartment complex.

The manager thought he was gauging traffic to jump in front of a car.

According to Lincoln police, a man who drove his truck into a Chick-fil-A is dead following what was described as a ” critical incident. ”

Witnesses said the man, identified as Joseph Cimino , 48, of Lincoln, became irate inside the restaurant and started overturning tables.

Lincoln police stated that Cimino was upset about the food he received and caused a disturbance inside the Chik-Fil-A , throwing food and turning tables until he was escorted out of the restaurant by another patron.

Once outside, Cimino got into his truck and drove reverse through the side of the restaurant.

No one inside the Chick-fil-A was injured.

” After driving into the business, the (man) exited the truck and continued to cause a disturbance, ” Chief Jeff Bliemeister , of Lincoln police, said.

Cimino was confronted by a uniformed Burlington Northern Santa Fe senior special agent, later identified as Christopher Hall, police said.

” He had made threatening statements to the special agent, ” Bliemeister said.

Hall then fired his weapon at Cimino , who died from his injuries at the scene.

Investigators are processing the scene and looking for forensic and digital evidence.

They’re also serving search warrants on Cimino’s home to determine a possible motive.

” Through analysis of digital evidence, we’re hoping to learn what, if anything, precipitated the incident at Chick-fil-A , ” Bliemeister said.

Lincoln police insisted the scene was safe and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
