Court Update: Alleged Yuma barricade suspect pleads guilty
A change of plea for the man accused of evading police and then barricading himself into a Yuma home. David Xavier Garcia now says he’s guilty.
Garcia faces up to four and a half years in prison when sentenced on charges of misconduct involving weapons.
Last November, Garcia tried to elude police along 11th Avenue. He wound up barricading himself into a house and holding officers at bay for more than an hour.
Garcia’s wife told News 11, “My husband is a very good father, family-oriented, and always suffered from mental issues that he never got treated for. We’ve been married for 5 years, and our daughter wants to have her father back.”
A judge will sentence Garcia on November 4.
