Woman busted for smuggling drugs with 6-year-old in vehicle

A Mexican national sits in custody accused of carrying a huge load of drugs in the same car as her six-year-old son.

U.S. Border Patrol agents say they made the bust Tuesday night at the I-8 Immigration check point near Pine Valley.

Agents say a drug dog alerted them to a problem with the Ford Explorer.

Further inspection revealed 65 bundles of meth in the back of the SUV. The drugs weighed nearly 68-pounds with a street value of almost $180-thousand.

Agents arrested the 25-year-old driver and placed her son in the custody of Child Protective Services.
