Beto O’Rourke makes first visit to Arizona
Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke will make two campaign stops in Arizona this weekend.
The visit is his first to Arizona since entering the race.
O’Rourke will hold a pair of town halls in both Phoenix and Tucson on Sunday.
He’ll begin his day at The Churchill, an open-air food court and entertainment venue, in Phoenix. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
Later in the day he’ll meet with supporters at Gentle Ben’s Brewing in Tucson. Doors open for that town hall at 3:30 p.m.
His campaign says the former Texas congressman plans to discuss the Trump administration’s treatment of immigrants and asylum seekers.
O’Rourke’s also expected to speak out on gun control. The topic’s been a centerpiece of his campaign since the deadly shootings in his hometown of El Paso on August 3.
The former congressman will also address accusations of corruption within the Trump administration, and explain why he supports impeachment.
