October: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Amberly’s Place kicked off October’s Domestic Awareness Month on Monday with local Yuma County Law Enforcement Agencies.

Law Enforcement put purple ribbon magnets on their cruisers provided by Amberly’s Place. This is to show their solidarity on their mission to end Domestic Violence.

Experts at Amberly’s Place said in Arizona that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime.

Domestic Violence doesn’t only have to be physical, it can also be verbal causing emotional distress as well.

Anyone who is suffering from domestic violence is encouraged to come forward. Or if you know someone who is a victim, experts and law enforcement encourage those to speak up and speak out.

Amberly’s Place teams up every year with law enforcement to fight the stigma behind victims not wanting to involve law enforcement from fears that nothing will be done. Both agencies want victims to know that they are there to help.

To anonymously report a crime of domestic violence you can call your local non-emergency law enforcement station and leave a tip or call 928-373-0849.
