Is climate change affecting the billion-dollar AG industry?

As the nation is demanding action towards climate change, News 11 investigated to see if climate change is affecting the billion-dollar agriculture industry in Yuma County.

“I deal with the short term with climate change with what’s happening in 5 years or even 10 years,” said Matt McGuire, Chief AG Officer of JV Farms.

McGuire said that over his 30-years, he has not seen a drastic change out in the fields. However, winters have gotten a lot warmer p rompting farmers to adapt to the weather conditions and reschedule both their planting and harvesting dates.

“When we get started your talking 60 days in the middle of winter it takes about 130 days long,” said McGuire.
