El Centro Border Patrol prevents gang members from re-entering U.S.
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents stopped two members of Mexico’s most dangerous gangs from re-entering the United States over the weekend.
The first bust happened around ten Saturday night. Agents say they arrested a 42-year-old man after he illegally entered the country about three-miles west of the Calexico Port of Entry.
A records check revealed the man had been convicted of drug charges here in the U.S. He served prison time and was deported after his release.
Agents say the man admitted to belonging to the notorious Serenos gang. It has ties to both the Mexican Mafia, and to a syndication of violent Latino gangs in Los Angeles.
The second arrest happened just before noon on Sunday. Border Patrol picked up a man after seeing him enter the U.S. about 12-miles east of the Calexico Port.
A subsequent record check showed the 20-year-old El Salvadoran suspect had been deported multiple times. It also revealed he was a member of the MS-13 gang.
MS-13 is an L.A.-based international crime syndicate with strong ties to the Central American community. The gang is known for its cruelty.
Both men remain in federal custody awaiting prosecution
