Local filmmakers strengthen their film dreams at international event
A group of local filmmakers were recognized for their work on Friday night at an international red carpet event in Tijuana.
Brawley resident Barry Ries said, ” There’s a lot of people here that stand out. The main thing to me is seeing that all these different people, from different parts of the world, area all chasing their dreams and there’s just a lot of positivity here. ”
El Centro resident Danny Hernandez said it motivated them to continue their film work.
” It means a lot to me because this is my first time experiencing something that I’ve never seen before, that I’ve never been involved in. And honestly, it’s great; it’s good to meet new people that are also in the business, ” Hernandez said.
The event was organized by Heart of Hollywood, a production agency based in Los Angeles, California. Its CEO Giovanna Salas said they’re hoping to make bridges between artists and business people for them to work together.
” The simple fact that they come here, that they see the energy, that they meet other people with like-minded individuals. I think it will make a change. Maybe we’re not making the biggest change but we’re planting a seed, ” Salas said.
The locals said they’re going home with their film dreams made stronger.
” You see other people following their dreams and that helps you to follow your dream, too, because it lets you know that you’re not alone, that you’re part of a large community. And I think that’s the best part of this event, ” Ries said.
” No matter what crosses into your path that you think, I’m not going to do it, just keep doing it, keep getting up. If you fall down that’s a step for you to keep getting up and achieving your dreams, ” Hernandez said.
Salas likes to encourage all artists to follow their dreams, just like she did when she left her hometown Tijuana almost eight years ago to follow her film dreams in Hollywood.
” “Always believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. And never give up. Magic happens that way, ” Salas said.
