Murder rate increases in San Luis, Mexico
The last nine months have seen more than 60 murders in San Luis Mexico.
Sonoran Governemnt Statistics ( SGS ) show the Mexican city has witnessed a startling 114 percent increase in 2019 when compared to 2018.
Mexican residents did not want to be on camera for the fear of retaliation, but many told us there should travel alerts not only for visitors, but for residents as well.
” It’s not the community I grew up in, I’ve never seen so much violence like this, ” said Hector Cruz, a farm worker from El Valle de Mexicali.
Ignacio Ybarra has lived in Mexico all his life. He told us he’s implemented curfews for his family. Ybarra also makes sure they take every precaution possible. Unfortunately, he worries all those measures won’t be enough.
” And either way if we are careful if we take precautions if those out there want you they will find you, it’s not enough to take precautions anymore, ” said Ybarra .
