Former athlete shocked about ex-Yuma coach accused of sharing game plans

The winningest coach for the Cibola High School girl’s basketball team since 2006 is facing allegations of giving away football plans to competing teams.

Justin Hager, who was a coach at Mountain Pointe High school in Tempe, Arizona, is accused of sharing football plans via an anonymous email account, according to the Tempe Union High School District.

Shocked is how a player who used to play under Hager is feeling after hearing the news. She explained Hager was a mentor adding everything he ever did was to win. ” So I don’t understand why he would do that. Reading into it it ‘s really confusing. I’ve been speaking to my teammates. We all played varsity basketball under him. Like nobody gets it. We are all just really confused as to why he would ever do something like that, ” said the former player who did not want to be identified.

We asked her if she thinks Hager did the same thing during his time at Cibola and she said she doesn’t think so.

Hager also served as an assistant junior varsity football coach during his time at Cibola .

The former player described Hager as a strict coach and even said she has used some things he taught her to this day.

We also reached out to the Yuma Union High School District. They released a statement saying, ” Mr. Hager last worked for Yuma Union High School District in the 2014-15 school year and resigned to pursue another opportunity. We have no further information available about Mr. Hager. ”

No word on what motivated Hager to share plays with other teams.
