Local woman creates impactful film series to unify Yuma community

Yuma resident Michelle Loynes is hosting a free movie screening series encourage unity and self care in the community.

She believes that spreading positivity is more important than ever in light of our current political climate.

” If you look outside in the world, things appear very hateful and divisive., ” said Loynes . ” The films are all going to support a different way to see the world. ”

The first film in the series, titled I Am, features a former Hollywood filmmaker who suffers from a traumatic brain injury and re-evaluates what he finds meaningful in life.

Participants say the film taught them that regardless of our background and beliefs in the desert Southwest, we are all the same at the end.

” We are connected, ” said Jose Coronado. ” The air, plants, water, animals, we’re all one and the same . ”
