Somerton woman dies in single-vehicle collision

A 33-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Yuma Friday morning.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office ( YCSO ) said they received a report of a single collision on West County 8 1/2 Street and Avenue E in Yuma.

According to YCSO , a grey 2002 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on County 8 1/2 Street and failed to stop at the intersections of Avenue E. The vehicle crossed over Avenue E and impacted a metal beam on the west side of the roadway.

YCSO said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver has been identified as Trisha Ann Mendoza of Somerton . According to YCSO , the family has been notified.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Critical Accident Response Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
