City hosts pool party for dogs at Kennedy Pool

The city is draining Kennedy Pool this weekend and before all the water is gone, they are allowing your dog to splash around in the cool water for some fun in the sun.

For just under a decade, the city has been throwing a pool party for your four-legged best friend and its a perfect way to end the summer.

Yuma isn’t the only city allowing pets to get a quick dip before summer ends.

” it ‘s in its 7th year, we have a great following, we have several people that return each year, ” said A.J. Mosqueda , recreation supervisor of Yuma Parks and Recreation. ” It’s a great event, it’s not time-intensive, you can pop in whenever. 30 min, 10 min, whatever works for you. ”

The city is providing lifeguards to make sure your dog is safe in the water.

“We encourage that you know that your dog is open to social animals. if it’s not the type that likes to socialize well with stranger dogs…this is not the event for you. we want it to be safe for you and safe for other guests.”

This pool party is exclusive only for dogs all types, shapes, and sizes.

You can bring up to two of your pets. It will cost you a dollar per dog. The party for dogs kicks off at 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. this Saturday.
