Police arrest one suspect, still searching for another in Ocotillo Drive theft

An arrest has been made in one of the thefts reported earlier this month on Ocotillo Drive in El Centro, but police are still looking for a second female suspect involved.

The El Centro Police Department (ECPD), said they received several tips identifying the male suspect in the video after security footage of the break-in was posted online.

The security footage shows a man helping a woman carry duffel bags out of a garage and placing them in a gray car.

The two of them get in the car and drive away.

“One of our patrol officers was able to recognize Montes and one of the vehicles that were used in the incident,” said Adrian Chile, ECPD detective.

ECPD said the suspect admitted to being the man in the video.

“His explanation was that he was simply taking a friend to home, once he was there he was asked to help retrieve some property from the residence,” said Chile.

“He did provide a partial name to the female he was with at the time and that is an avenue we are still pursuing,” said Chile.
