Pregnant woman lost in desert rescued by Border Patrol Agents
A pregnant woman and five others who were lost in the desert after illegally entering The United States were rescued by Border Patrol Agents August 15.
Yuma Sector Border Patrol Agents claimed to have apprehended a group of seven people 15 miles east of San Luis, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Agents say that the group told them six other individuals stayed behind, and a short time later a distress call was received from a woman who said she and five others were lost in the desert. Four of those five others were juveniles.
Yuma Sector Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue team along with other agents located the group and said there was a 24-year-old Guatemalan woman who was four months pregnant. While the woman was in route to the Yuma Station, agents claimed that she began to vomit, and that emergency medical services were contacted for an ambulance to transport her to a local hospital. The woman was said to be released on Saturday.
Border Patrol agents warn that illegally crossing the border anytime of the year can be fatal, especially in summer months when temperatures reach up to 120 degrees.
