Pet Chihuahua killed in fire that destroyed home
A fire destroyed her friend’s home right in front of her eyes and it was up to Leeane Neal to tell him.
” I was really worried about what happened. So, I called my friend up. He was at school still. And he didn’t know what had gone on. I was the first one to tell him that his house was on fire, ” Neal said.
Her friend, an imperial valley college student, lived there on McDonal Street near Eight Street in El Centro with his mom and Princess, their beloved pet Chihuahua.
” When I got here there was all kinds of smoke. And the fire trucks were here. And the ambulance was already here. I saw my friend’s mother in the ambulance. They took her out of the ambulance, and they started to prep her to be flown in a helicopter, ” Neal said.
The woman suffered burns to her body. A car was also completely destroyed. Neal worried about Princess.
“I found out that his dog was inside and the dog is unaccounted for right now,” Neal said.
The fire department put the flames out and found princess.
El Centro Fire Battalion Chief Cedric Cesena said, ” Severe damage happened to a home as well as a vehicle. We had one pet died in the process unfortunately due to the fire, and we had one person that was injured as well. ”
Princess perished between the front door and the car, apparently reluctant or unable to leave until it was too late.
Neal’s friend arrived to see what was left of his home.
The injured woman was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time but her injuries are not considered life threatening.
