El Centro police investigate stabbing

A woman was stabbed early Tuesday morning in an alley in Adams Avenue in El Centro, according to the El Centro Police Department ( ECPD ).

ECPD said officers responded to the block of 1200 Adams Avenue regarding a woman who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the victim.

Reports show officers followed up and drove to the Emergency Room (ER) at El Centro Regional Medical Center to see if a victim could be located. Upon arrival, a cab also arrived with a 22-year-old woman from El Centro that was the victim of a stabbing.

Officers said the woman had been approached from behind by an unknown suspect and stabbed her with a switchblade knife before attempting to steal her bag.

The victim was able to provide little information about the suspect but said the suspect’s face was covered.

ECPD said the victim sustained stab wounds to her back, finger, and ear. The injuries were not threatening and the victim was treated at the ER.
