YPG hosts briefing on anti-terrorism for local law enforcement

On the heels of recent mass shootings and past tragedies, a terrorism expert visited the Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) as a featured speaker to teach law enforcement on assessing and understanding the terrorist threat.
Key speaker Ricky Rounds, a hard-charging U.S. Army operations chief out of Fort Hood, spoke to law enforcement from YPG, Yuma Police Department, Yuma Fire, and even military veterans about the most effective anti-terrorism measures they need to be aware of.

“There’s a lot of stuff that is involved in anti-terrorism. Some people get worked up against anti-terrorism measures,” said Rounds. “But let me tell you… a moment of inconvenience is worth anything, compared to something happening to a bunch of people.”

Rounds drew from his experience witnessing the tragic Fort Hood shootings in 2009 and 2014.
“So, take the anti-terrorism program seriously and take the time to make sure you’re protecting yourself and your family.” said Rounds. “Make sure you’re following your emergency action plan in your workplace, natural disaster stuff like tornadoes earthquakes fires…just be vigilant.”
August is Anti-Terrorism Awareness Month, and Rounds wants us to be as aware as possible, hoping to keep you safe when tragedy strikes.
