Fair board unveils new name and logo for fairgrounds

The county fairgrounds in Imperial will no longer be called the Imperial Valley Expo.
Fair board members have decided to change the name to Imperial Valley Fairgrounds.
The name change was announced by the fair board on Thursday.
Fair Chief, Alan Phillips, unveiled a new logo at a press conference today, that he designed himself.
He says the new name and logo represents the valley’s roots and main purpose of the fairgrounds.
Phillips says the name change has been in the works for about three years now.
” There’s kind of this hodge-podge of different names and associations of who we are, but when you really ask somebody where’s the event at they say the fairgrounds. That’s just part of our heritage and history. We are now the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds, ” said Phillips.
The fair board says the facility name change comes at a perfect time as they prepare to start plans for the 2020 Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta in February.
