YUHSD offers healthy meals at no cost

Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD) is continuing to offer healthy meals to all students at no cost for the second year in a row.

Students will not need to pay any fees or submit any household application in order to qualify.

The nutrition department has also added a variety of options to its menu for the 2019-2020 school year.

Some of the new items include large cereal bowls, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, turkey Panini melts, meatball subs, and rolled tacos.

” The students of YUHSD can benefit from the no cost meal service because it helps them with their academics,” said Student Nutrition Services Director Grace Pruit.

“More and more studies show that proper nutrition reflects success in the classroom. So being able to focus on their school work rather than meals, can help them focus on getting better scores can help students be prepared for the workforce.”
