El Centro man murdered near train tracks
A mother is mourning the loss of her 24-year-old son who was tragically murdered this weekend in El Centro.
Erasmo Chris Torres, was killed early Sunday in El Centro, near the train tracks on Hamilton Street.
“He didn’t have the right to take his life like that from him,” said Rosita Torres, Erasmo Torres’s mother.
According to the El Centro Police Department, Torres was near the train tracks with his brother, when a man approached them.
ECPD , says a verbal argument ensued between them. The suspect pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots and one of those shots struck Torres.
“The brother ran to a location, reported it and that secondary party, which was the mother called 911,” said Commander Aaron Reel, with ECPD .
“He had a lot of future going on, he had a lot of things for his life,” said Rosita Torres.
Torres’s mother says he will be remembered as a great friend and a wonderful father.
” He’s leaving three children behind. Maybe a misunderstanding happened, maybe he was at the wrong place, at the wrong time, ” said Rosita Torres.
“I just want to be clear, he was not in any type of gang situation,” said Rosita Torres.
Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact the El Centro Police Department.
Torres’s family has set up a GoFundMe at Funeral and Memorial Expenses for Erasmo Torres.
