Showering with contacts leaves a woman legally blind
Contact wearers, you may want to think twice before showering or swimming.
Insider reports a 41-year-old woman in the United Kingdom was declared legally blind after a severe infection left her with permanent scars on her cornea, the clear top lens of the eyeball.
According to the Insider, researchers found the woman had worn her contacts while showering and swimming, allowing microscopic critters called amoebas to er inside her eyeball and grow there causing intense pain, blurry vision, and irreversible damage.
This is not the first time it happens, a 29-year-old man was blinded after developing the same type of infection from regularly showering, Insider reported.
