Visitor arrested after allegedly smuggling contraband into Calipatria State Prison

A man visiting his brother at Calipatria State Prison (CSP) was arrested after allegedly carrying five bundles of suspected marijuana.

According to a press release provided by CSP, on July 21 visiting staff conducted a search of the men’s visiting restroom after 19-year-old Kenneth Guerrero exited the restroom. Staff searched the area which yielded negative results for contraband. The staff proceeded to ask visitor Guerrero to empty pockets and place all items on the foyer’s podium in which the staff discovered one bundle covered in white latex.

CSP said Investigate Services Unit (ISU) staff responded and recovered a total of four additional bundles from Guerrero for a total of five bundles with a combined weight of 28 grams of suspected Marijuana.

The bundles contained a brown wax substance that tested presumptive positive for Marijuana/THC. CSP reported Guerrero was interviewed by ISU staff and was subsequently arrested and transported to Imperial County Jail.
