Dog who was victim of alleged animal abuse in need of forever home
Peter is a four-year-old lab-shepard mix who was a victim of alleged animal abuse and is need of a forever home.
News 11 first reported the story about the canine’s former owner, who was arrested for allegedly striking him with a golf club last month.
Oscar Ruiz of the Calexico Police Department said, ” So when officers arrived on the scene, they contacted Mr. Aceves who turned out to be the actual suspect in the incident. And at the time, he admitted to actually striking the canine with the golf club which he [had] next to him on the street. ”
Now at an animal shelter in El Centro, Dee Dorbey , founder of Dee’s Rescue said he’s still recovering from his injuries.
Forbey said, ” They noticed that he had old from before. His back legs, one of his legs in immobile. It’s because of an old injury and healing. Then he had to…he can walk on it. He can’t bend it. ”
While Peter loves being around humans, he’s had a hard time being around other pets.
” Some of the dogs that we have seen before that had been fighters, they’re aggressive with other dogs, ” Forbey said.
But the animal shelter is not giving up on Peter and hopes he’ll find a place to call home soon.
Forbey added, ” We’re not going to say this is forever. We’re going to check up on him to make sure that they love him and that they’re going to take care of him. Because you know they’ve been so mistreated you know and it’s not their fault. That we need to put out more effort to take care of them if we can. ”
