Back to School Rodeo: a one-stop-shop for parents and children
On Saturday, the City of Yuma’s annual Back to School Rodeo will be Yuma’s one-stop-shop to get everything your child needs to head back to school.
Two days before the big event, Girl Scouts, City of Yuma Staff, and AEA Federal Credit Union volunteered to stuff 1,400 yellow backpacks with school supplies such as pencils, notepads, and even frisbees .
Over a dozen community partners came together to sponsor this event, including KYMA News 11.
City of Yuma’s Marketing Specialist, Carrie Ring, said the community can expect more than just backpacks and school supplies.
” Whether it’s vision screenings, dental screenings, back screenings…it’s just a really good way to get everything that your student needs, even mental health services, food assistance programs, all of those organizations are going to be in one spot on Saturday. ”
There will be 82 booths providing various services to the public.
Ring said they’re expecting nearly 3,000 people to attend Saturday’s event at the Yuma Civic Center.
Don’t forget, the first 1,400 kids will receive a free backpack.
