New Director of Finance appointed in El Centro
The City of El Centro city council announced that a contract for a new Director of Finance has been approved on Tuesday.
Richard L. Romero has been appointed as the new Director of Finance for El Centro. He is a Calexico native and has served on various boards the last 38 years including ARC, Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo, Calexico City Council, and currently a board member of the Calexico Unified School District.
” It has been a privilege to have served the City of El Centro in the capacity as the Finance Manager during the last 33 years and I am now honored to serve as the Director of Finance. I have thoroughly enjoyed working for El Centro and the wonderful people associated with our City. ” Richard says.
Richard has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Business Administration from the University of San Diego and has been with the City of El Centro since December 1985.
“Richards’s depth of experience in finance and accounting makes him a great addition to the City’s leadership team,” stated Marcela Piedra , City Manager.
Mayor Edgard Garcia stated ” Mr. Romero has been with the City of El Centro for over 33 years and his strong grasp of the complex factors affecting municipal finances is pivotal to the effective stewardship of public funds. The City is fortunate to have a professional of his caliber on staff. ”
The Director of Finance is responsible for preparing the annual city budget and reviewing the status of major city development projects and financial policies and issues.
