Border Patrol agents seize 78.3 pounds of drugs in two days

El Centro Border Patrol ( CBP ) agents who were working at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint stopped two different cars transporting drugs just within two days.

The first incident happened on Tuesday at approximately 9:33 a.m. where agents say a 29-year-old woman was arrested for smuggling meth. The woman was said to be driving a blue Nissan Sentra when she approached the checkpoint. A CBP canine alerted agents to the vehicle where she was sent to secondary inspection for further investigation.

While in secondary inspection agents discovered several hidden packages with meth inside the rear passenger seat of the vehicle.

The total weight discovered was 28.7 points with an estimated value of $66,010.

The second incident happened on Wednesday at 12:24 p.m. when agents say a 26-year-old man driving a red Ford Escape approached the checkpoint. A CBP canine alerted agents to the vehicle where it was sent to secondary inspection. Agents say they then found several packages with meth hidden in the vehicle’s spare tire compartment, and inside the gas tank.

The total weight of meth discovered was 49.6 pounds with an estimated value of $114,080.
