Yuma man sentenced on charges of aggravated assault

A Yuma man who pled guilty in June to aggravated assault with a prior conviction was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.

42-year-old Ralph Sivyer was previously wanted for possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and prohibited weapon-manufacturing.

In June 2018, the Yuma Police Department approached Sivyer in June in a traffic stop when he assaulted two officers and took off with one of their handguns.

Three Yuma police officers claimed they recognized Sivyer’s car, circled, and then approached Sivyer . That is when two officers broke Sivyer’s window, and the other claimed he went to get a tire deflation device from his glove compartment.

On June 7 of this year, 42-year-old Ralph Sivyer ended his trial in a plea agreement which dismissed five charges he was facing.
