Niland 4-alarm fire consumes structure

The Imperial County Fire Department confirmed Wednesday night that the fire happening in Niland has burned around 10 acres of brush and consumed one structure.

According to the fire department, the initial report revealed the abandoned structure is located at the 7900 block of Hwy 111. The fire developed to a partial four-alarm leading to the assistance of City of Brawley , City of Calipatria , City of Westmorland, City of El Centro, City of Holtville , Centinela State Prison Fire, Calipatria State Prison, and Naval Air Facility.

Red Cross and the Imperial Irrigation District also assisted in the incident.

Imperial County firefighters also assisted Calexico Fire Department with a second-alarm fire located at the 500 block of Blair Avenue.
