Mulch fire turned over to property owner

Rural Metro fire department ( RMFD ) has turned the scene of the mulch fire on County 12th Street over to the property owner.

According to Rural Metro Fire officials, the property owner and his team are moving material and extinguishing smoldering areas with small water pumps and one large water pump.

RMFD said they will continue to monitor the site daily and be sure there is no endangerment from smoldering piles of mulch.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality had a rapid response to monitoring air quality. Border Patrol was patient and helpful assisting with visual resources, and Bureau of Land Management was there daily assisting when needed, the fire department added.
