Las Vegas parking tickets to be paid by school supply donations

The Las Vegas City Council voted to allow parking tickets to be paid with donations of school supplies for a limited time.

According to a press release, the program was issued from June 19 to July 19. The donations have to be made within thirty days of receiving the ticket, and a receipt of the items is required.

The supplies have to be new and unwrapped with equal or greater value to their fine.

The Parking Services Office will be collecting these donations for the Teachers Exchange, a nonprofit associated with the Public Education Foundation.

A few of the items that are being accepted are pencils, erasers, index cards, card stock, and storage bins.
