Yuma Road Report, Week of June 27

Here is a list of the upcoming projects that will be affecting the busy streets of Yuma this week:

City Projects

1st Avenue & 16th Street road closures

A project is underway on 1st Avenue between 16th Street and Orange Avenue to repair underground water/sewer infrastructure, to upgrade sidewalks and driveways, and to improve surface pavement. Right now,16th Street is reduced to one lane in each direction, with left turns prohibited, near 1st Avenue, and 1st Avenue is fully closed from 13th Street to 16th Street.

Sewer work in 16th Street has been completed and the contractor is now working to restore the pavement. A new asphalt surface course will be installed between Maple Avenue and 2nd Avenue. Lane restrictions on 16th Street are anticipated to continue through the third week in July.

Avenue 9E, 24th Street to North Frontage

The new bicycle lanes along Avenue 9E are now substantially complete. The contractor is performing final cleanup, street sweeping, and pavement marking through July 3. In addition, Southwest Gas is continuing to install a new gas main near the intersection of 24th Street.

32nd Street near Catalina (completed)

Water main installation has been completed, and lanes have been reopened to traffic.

Avenue 3E, O’Neill Street (near Dole entrance)

A new traffic signal pole and supporting infrastructure will be installed at the intersection of Avenue 3E and O’Neill Street June 27-28, requiring traffic control. The traffic signal pole has fatigue cracks on it that may compromise the structural integrity. For that reason, a contractor will be installing a new traffic signal. Traffic control and lane closures will be in place as needed.

City Street Maintenance
Street maintenance operations for July 1-3 were not available at this time but will be updated at www.yumaaz.gov/

Traffic lane striping throughout the city
City of Yuma Public Works is refreshing traffic lane stripes citywide this spring, through June 30. Crews will get started at 4 a.m. weekdays. Please be aware of cones around newly painted lines and avoid hitting them.
