Colorado River Pottery creates art inspired by desert southwest

Located just two blocks from Colorado River, Colorado River Pottery has been part of Yuma for over 30 years. Owner and potter Jan Bentley is constantly making unique designs, drawing inspiration from the local community.

Each item is custom and hand formed by wheel or slab, made one-of-a-kind. One of her most popular designs is the landscape of the mountains north of Yuma with the Colorado River running through it.

Bentley says she loves it when residents and visitors tell her that her pieces remind them of their time on Yuma.

” Yuma, for one thing has grown, but it still has that small town feel. People enjoy purchasing things with a local flair, ” Bentley said. ” Things with a local flair and things they can’t get anywhere else.

On most days, you can find Jan and her dog working on their newest creation in the studio.

Colorado River Pottery is located in Yuma’s Historic District at 67 West 2nd Street near the corner of 2nd Street and Madison Avenue.
