Imperial County selects Teacher of the Year

First-grade teacher, Randi Ryan, from Imperial Unified School District has been selected as the Imperial County Teacher of the Year this upcoming school year.

Ryan has taught at T.L. Waggoner Elementary for most of her 19 years as an educator.

The Imperial County Office of Education can nominate one local teacher as the California Department of Education ( CDE ) considers multiple candidates for the California Teacher of the Year Program.

If she is selected as one of California’s Teachers of the Year, she would be showcased as a shining example to over 300,000 teachers in the state. CDE chooses five teachers to serve as California’s Teachers of the Year.

This past May, Ryan was recently recognized by Association of California School Administrators as one of Imperial County’s Teachers of the Year.

She is one of the teachers that will inaugurate Imperial’s new school, Cross Elementary in August.
