Border Patrol agents seize over $100k worth of meth

U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered 44 packages of methamphetamine worth over $ 100K at a checkpoint in Campo, Calif.

Customs and Border Protection ( CBP ) said, at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, a gray Chrysler approached a Border Patrol checkpoint in Campo. A K-9 alerted agents to the Chrysler which led them to refer the driver to a secondary inspection. A second K-9 alerted agents to the passenger side’s glove box. Forty-four plastic-wrapped bundles in a makeshift compartment behind the glove box were discovered valuing to $106,145.

The 27-year-old driver was arrested and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

CBP said this fiscal year, the San Diego Sector has seized around 2,514 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $5,782,200.
