Man pleads guilty in deadly DUI crash
The man accused of driving under the influence and crashing into another car, killing that driver, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday.
San Luis Police said Brian Silva-Lopez was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Christmas Eve 2018.
SLPD said Silva-Lopez was speeding in his blue Pontiac traveling northbound on 10th Avenue when he struck a red Corvette traveling westbound on Los Alamos Street.
The driver of the red Corvette, identified as Marco Bustamante-Grimaldi, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Silva-Lopez pleaded guilty in a change of plea appearance in court Wednesday.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, he agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter, a class two felony .
The range of punishment Silva-Lopez faces is five to 12 years in prison.
Silvas-Lopez sentencing is scheduled for June 26.
