U.S. Marine is reportedly attacked at border, fired his weapon
A U.S. Marine was reportedly attacked at the southwest border.
The U.S. Northern Command said a U.S. Marine fired his weapon after being attacked by three men in the Calexico border area, according to the website militarytimes.com.
The report said the marine was working with local Border Patrol units. He was alone when he was reportedly attacked inside his vehicle. The report said the men tried to drag him out of his vehicle and a struggle followed – that’s when the marine fired his weapon. The men fled. The marine was not injured.
We spoke to local Border Patrol officials who said they’re not ready to give a public statement. They said the Department of Defense will do that when ready.
The incident happened on Wednesday early morning. The investigation is ongoing.
There are over 2,000 active duty U.S. troops working alongside Border Patrol at the southwest border.
