Mexican authorities find missing girl’s body buried near canal

Mexican authorities confirmed Thursday they found the body of the seven-year-old San Luis, Mexico girl who was reported missing on May 23.

According to the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office, officials found the body of the minor in a remote deserted area 164 feet from the canal where Itzel Nohemi Quiroa Seratos was last seen. She was found half-buried at a shallow depth between two plants in the area.

Mexican authorities are currently investigating the area where the seven-year-old was found as well as the neighborhood where she resided.

An Amber Alert was issued for Quiroa Seratos’s disappearance and had reached an international level.
