7 people running for city council, 1 for municipal judge

Seven people have submitted packets to join in on the City of Yuma elections.

Six of the packets submitted were for the three open seats on the Yuma City Council, according to the City of Yuma.

Current council members Mike Shelton, Edward Thomas, and Jacob Miller’s seats are open. Shelton and Thomas are eyeing to keep their seats.

Jason Bradley, Ema Lea Shoop , Chris Morris, and Robert Scarborough also submitted packets to take one of the three seats.

Jenny Farmer-Umphress is running unopposed for the open municipal judge position.

The City of Yuma primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 27.

The City of Yuma said the general election will be held November 5 for the purpose of electing the candidates that have not been declared elected during the primary election.

Candidates who are elected to the noted positions will serve a four-year term beginning January 1, 2020, and ending December 31, 2013.
